Jesus stood up and commanded the wind, “Be quiet!” and he said to the waves, “Be still!” The wind died down, and there was a great calm.” – Mark 4:39
Let’s take a dog for instance – I have one – He’s playing around carelessly or backing ceaselessly and you tell him “stop!” He obeys and cower into a corner. Another person who is watching you and your dog is amazed!
The bible says, all things have been placed under Jesus except the One who placed all things under him. So it wasn’t a big deal for him when he was sleeping undisturbed by a raging storm. He would have slept through the storm but for His scared disciples who wouldn’t let him sleep in peace. Jesus got up and did what anyone who knew his lordship over what he was speaking to will do – He told the storm and the waves to “stop!”
The bible recorded that there was a great calm and His disciples marvelled that even the winds and the waves obeyed Him, just like the stranger watching you and your dog will marvel at how he obeys your command… Get it?
All things was given to Jesus and He has freely given them to us. We have more power than we know in the storm but most of us just don’t speak up. If you do not tell your dog to stop playing or backing, he will not stop… The same goes for the storm!
