DAILY BREAD: A TEST BEFORE THE TESTIMONY

while we don’t look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal.” – 2 Corinthians 4:18

2 Cor 4:16:18 talks about the right perspective to the ups and down in the Christian pilgrimage. Selwyn Hughes, Author of “Everyday Day with Jesus” said in one of his series that it is not possible for us to achieve a “painless” life on earth, while this may at first seem like a pessimistic view, even the verse before us confirms it.

The good news is “we do not look at the things that are seen” because if we say we hope for what we see, then it is not hope (Romans 8:24) but we hope in the promise of an eternal glory, while a glimpse of this glory will be revealed to us on earth, we await even much more in God’s Kingdom. Hence, our light affliction work for us a far greater eternal glory.

Also, no matter the level of accomplishment or victory you think you are experiencing here on earth, the bible still refer to it as “light affliction” because it cannot be compare to what God has prepared for us in the glorious eternity… Whew! It feels good to know we are going to be there someday!

What you see is important… Do you see a challenge, trial, and the likes that look insurmountable today? The scripture is saying, you ain’t looking in the right direction. If you fix your gaze right, you will see that those promises instilled in your mind by the spirit are more real than the facts on ground. People always use the phrase, “but the fact is that…” I want you to know that there is “the fact” but there is also the “truth of the fact” which is embedded in the word of God and is capable of changing the facts beyond reasonable doubts!

Lastly, there will be situations that will test your faith… The more the grace, the. Greater the test… A shallow minded person may be force to say God has forsaken him but if you can stand the TEST, there will be a TESTimony
