SELAH STORIES: HEART COURAGEOUS

The defense line has been pushed in so much the only place we are dominating is our camp. For 3 months the enemies have overpowered us with intense attack using all forms of arms and ammunitions. Some of which met us by surprise because according to our captain, we have not seen this form of sophisticated weaponry… not in this lifetime.

The last day of July felt longer than all the rest of the month put together. The opposition were determined to claim our only surviving territory by all means. We formed a wall of defense at our camp because they have taking over the rest of the city. They struck blow after blow in expectation that it will be the final straw that will break the camel’s back but we resisted still.

“This is a fight to death!” our captain yelled out, “No retreat, No surrender! I will rather die than be dragged in chains and fetal like a criminal… we have fighting for a good cause and if it means death in this flesh… then it’s one I will honourably accept… who else is with me?”

The whole camp yelled out loud in an uproar that swallowed up the loudest explosions just few miles from us. Seeing our determination, our captain sprung into action, giving out instructions. It is simple, no one is allowed to retreat, no one is allowed to go back for a reload, take everything you need to the war front and resist the enemy by countering every move till you are out.

“For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds” – 2 Corinthians 10:4

We countered every move even though we were outnumbered and fell short in terms of weapons but we resisted. At the dawn of the first day in August, we had kept the enemies in the same spot all day and night. We noticed their attack had subsided, we took the initiative that they too, needed time to reload but unlike us, they needed to go back to their base or send forth another troop to join in so as to reinforce.

“Oh no,” our captain called out, “we are not giving them that chance… attack!” he yelled out and we descended on the enemies who had ran out of supplies like a flood. We overpowered that troop that day and we did not stop to bask in the victory, we moved on to reclaim our other territories as we launched surprise attacks on the enemies in our captured territories. One after the other, we reclaimed our land and pushed the enemies out finally… we won the war but according to our captain, we were already winners when we chose not to give up.

“He that overcomes shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and fornicators, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.” – Revelation 21:7-8
