The best days in Nigerian Gospel Hip Hop are here and ushering in this period is no other than the rapvangelist Tru South!
Tru South set a new trend for spiritual Gospel Rap music when he released the churchboy anthem — “Head Full of Dreams” which won both critical and popular acclamation. “Shey You Know Say?” that has a spectacular video to it complemented the effort and removed all doubts that Tru South is a flash in the pan.
Tru South takes another giant stride with the release of the “Shey You Know Say?” Remix featuring Gospel Rap heavyweights Protek, SamJamz, TB1, Win.T.E.R, Synpa and Pffizzy.

ABOUT TRU SOUTH
Tru South started his musical career about ten years ago and has been an underground rapper for a while, known mostly in Port-Harcourt, Warri , Delta State where he is from. He started performing at age 15 and his early interest in music was influenced by his father, Augustine who also was a singer in the 70s, playing the acoustic, lead, and bass guitar. In 2008, Tru became the choir coordinator and song writer in his local church at the University of Port Harcourt.
In 2010 he struck a promotional deal with American promoter, Rick Hendrix after which he released his pop single “Best friend” and later “Pathway to hope” which he dedicated to the victims of natural disasters in Haiti, Japan and other parts of the world. “Pathway to Hope” became the theme song for Rick Hendrix Foundation and was being used in other national foundation ads. Representatives for Amazon and Itunes said the single “Pathway of Hope” is one of the most requested new songs on their sites at the time. On april 8 2011 he was presented with President Obama’s “Call to Service Award” and Lifetime Achievement Service Award as a result of the heartfelt support to the victims of natural disasters in Japan during their dark times. The award came with a congratulatory message from the American President, a certificate with the President’s signature on it and also a Gold Medal with the emblem of the United States.
Just few months after this, Tru South took a leap of faith and switched to Gospel Music. He released his first gospel single ‘MIMSHAK’ and then later released the sensational hip hop song “Head full of Dreams” to rave reviews. He has since continued to perform across Nigeria with many of Nigeria’s top artists and recently released the video for ‘Shey You Know Say’.
Tru South hits the scene once again, this time with a milestone hit — the remix of “Shey You Know Say” which features Protek, SamJamz, TB1, Snypa and Winter.
