God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” – 2 Corinthians 5:21
Many see righteousness as right living, which in itself is not wrong. But when we look deeply it goes beyond that. We are righteous by the blood of Jesus which was shed on the cross for our Sins! Let’s say righteousness is like a mark put on us once we believe in Christ! So when the Bible says the effectual fervent prayer of the righteous man availeth much, it is saying the prayer of a man who believes in what Christ did on the Cross! We cannot be saved by our works and the more we try, the more frustrated we get because it simply is impossible.
Our belief in Christ is our ticket to accessing what God has in store for us. It’s that simple. He sees us no longer as our imperfect selves but as bought by the blood of His Son. That is not to say we are allowed to go on Sinning! God Forbid! But it means that when we make mistakes and come in the name of Jesus, His blood covers us up and God sees that and counts us as righteous.
The most frustrating thing a Christian can do is try to be saved. There is no trying, there is only believing. The question is, do you Believe?
