freeborn.jpgThe band is composed of Tosin “TeeKaywitty” Kinyomi (singer songwriter & Producer), Ladi Wilkey (Singer Songwriter, and lead vocalist) Segun cooper (Singer songwriter), and Biodun Cooper. The band and its membership went through a number of re-configurations between 2004-2007, achieving their current form with the success of their first single “fujitive” produced by Cobhams Asuquo achieving national acclaim leading to the release of their debut album “the first chapter’.

Since the release of the band’s debut album in April 2008, Freeborn has become known for its musicianship, complex compositions, and eclectic lyrical motifs drawing heavily on social character, fiction, fantasy, and philosophy, aas well as addressing humanitarian, social, emotional, and environmental concerns. Freeborn’s music style has remained consistent over the years, beginning with blues-inspired Afro RnB, Afropop, Afro raggae on their first album, then encompassing rock, rap and a period with use of synthesizers. This condensation of musical chemistry is dubbed “Contemporary African Multirythms”. Freeborn has won a number of fans across youth and elderly divides and enjoys wide acceptance in University campuses, clubs, hangouts and other music powered venues.

Over their seven –year career, Freeborn have been acknowledged as having highly proficient stagemanship on demand, with each band member winning numerous nicknames in fans polls leading to the coinage ‘spontaneous, crazy, simple, witty outsideofthebox music.’ The band is currently executing the second leg of bring Back the Mode sophomore album titled Tales of the Unexpected with preview dates scheduled throughout Nigeria.   Connect:
