Kenyan Artistes Bahati & Sarah K Win Groove Awards Artistes Of The Year – Get KES 200,000 From President

Male and Female Artistes of the Year at the just concluded Groove Awards have been giving 200, 000 (KES) each, which is the equivalent of 2238.390 (USD) by Kenya’s president Uhuru Kenyatta. The president had made known his support for Kenya’s music industry, through the State House’s director of Digital, New Media and Diaspora Affairs Dennis Itumbi, thus promising to extend funds to the male and female artistes of the year at the Groove Awards.

Kevin Bahati was raised in an orphanage and in 2012 released his first single “Siku ya Kwanza” which was received well and is, to date, being requested by fans on radio and TV programmes such as Tukuza (KTN), Kubamba (Citizen), Cross Over 101 (NTV), and Replay Show (System Unit). By the year 2013, 19-year-old Bahati won the Groove Awards New Artiste of the Year.

Sarah K is amongst the most respected Gospel singers in Kenya. She rose from a vegetable seller to become an inspiration and a source of hope to many. She debuted in 2000 with the album “Wamtumainio Bwana.” She’s married and has 3 kids.

Other winners at the groove awards include Nigeria’s Uche, Nicholas Harmonies, Size 8, amongst others.
