“Now listen! Today I am giving you a choice between life and death, between prosperity and disaster.” — Deuteronomy 30:15
The truth is, I sit back at times and I reminisce on those periods and I always feel like, “that was harmless fun, you should have done that.” But maybe, It’s not totally me that do not want to do those things. It’s the spirit inside of me.
You see, there was a time, I couldn’t even afford “fun” and when I say that, I am not talking about the cost (although that could have been the case as well) but I am talking about a life where the issues you are faced with will not even let you think about fun because you are busy trying to fix them.
These days, it’s easy to consider fun, not because you have arrived but Jesus has helped you to know relief so that those periods seems like it never happened! You are more at ease and can afford to think about fun. “Others are getting married, so I should get married too.” Or “what are you doing on Friday, why not let’s go on a date… or just go see a movie…” “My friend is having is bachelor party, I don’t have anything I am doing that day… I should totally go for it!” etc… etc… I mean what’s the arm in that? It’s not like you are going there to go drink or revel… you know… grieve the Holy Spirit. Just some decent-Christian-fun-time.
Yet, your spirit will prompt you that all things are lawful but not all things are expedient! Why?!
Because when you gave your life to Jesus, you GAVE YOUR LIFE period!! It’s no longer I who lives but Jesus lives in me! He decides what’s fun and what’s not. He decides marriage, courtship, money, income, cars, houses, properties, parties, hobbies… He decides everything!
So if everybody wants to party… even if it’s Christian kinda-party but He says no party… oh well, sit your butt and read your bible or watch a movie… I don’t know… just don’t party!
I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me – Galatians 2:20
