“For we are to God the pleasing aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing.” – 2 Cor 2:15

I used to listen to a lot of rap music and one of my favourite songs was Nas’ “It ain’t hard to tell,” I can’t really remember most of the content but the title of that song stuck with me and you can hear me from time to time chip it in as an appropriate response to a situation.

Today, this phrase comes to my mind again as I think of the aroma of Christ. One may want to ask what does this aroma smells like but my answer will take us back to that phrase, it ain’t hard to tell.

The bible tells us as Christ is so are we in this world and also it says offer up body as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable unto God, that means for us to know or smell like the aroma of Christ we must do like Christ did – offer ourselves to God.

The whole life Christ lived on earth was a life of service, offered up as worship unto God, so, although He had to give up His earthly vessel in the most agonizing way, it was a worthy sacrifice unto God and for man. Paul understood this, so much that he consistently – without tiring – gave up his earthly vessel that he may gain Christ, thus he said, I die daily.

You want to know what the aroma smell like? Look into your life and present what you have found (your life) before the Lord, does it please Him? Is it an acceptable worship? You don’t have to wait till you perceive it in the lives of others because that may mean you are amongst those in the later part of the verse. You are the one oozing the aroma and as the world begins to perceive the aroma which is an acceptable worship unto God. You will know what the Christ scent is like – ‘it ain’t hard to tell.’
