While that is true about harvest, the literal meaning explains what harvest really is and the way Jesus wants us to see it better.
harvest
ˈhɑːvɪst/
noun
The process or period of gathering in crops.
Two words I will like to point out – “Process” and “Gathering”.
Harvest is a PROCESS and it involves “Gathering”. Farmers work extra hours during the PROCESS of harvest to GATHER the crops.
This is what Jesus is talking about in Mark 4:29.
“But when the fruit is brought forth, immediately he putteth in the sickle, because the harvest is come.” – Mark 4:29 KJV
Harvest does not mean you should sit back and relax to enjoy the fruitfulness. It actually means there is a fruitfulness that needs to be reaped. The crop will not just pluck itself, get into the basket and find it’s way to your barn. You have to go to the farm and do the work. Thus, Jesus said:
“When the fruit is brought forth, immediately he putteth in the sickle.”
That means he takes the necessary tools and does the work of harvesting. Remember this: the bigger the harvest, the more time you will need to reap it. So if it seems to be delaying, know that God is planning a bountiful harvest that will not only bless you but also bless others… Farmers work extra hours during harvest! Keep going!
Prayer Point
I am standing on God’s word – Jesus the solid Rock. And I am bigger, stronger than any resistance… The strangers are fading away all by themselves!
