Speaking on day 4 of the ongoing youth convention in the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Mrs. Folu Adeboye asked intending couples to seek counsel from their pastors before their parents.
“There should be no confusion in the house of God. You have to go to your Pastor first to consult for marriage before your parent,” she said.
Apart from coming under criticism on social media, controversial OAP, Daddy Freeze also had a negative input on the matter. This did not go down well with Leke Adeboye who said the OAP made the matter personal when his mother was mentioned. He advice that if the OAP had taken the advice given by his mother, he probably wouldn’t have gone through divorce.
“Bros, I have left you alone before. But you come after my Mother and I will come after you and yours with everything I have. She wasn’t talking to you or your followers. Maybe if you had done the same thing, you would still be happy and married by now. Stop taking things out of context, listen to the whole conversation first,” Leke said.
Following the backlash, the church’s official Twitter handle uploaded a clip to clear the air and put the message in the right perspective.

Pastor Folu Adeboye advice that one should seek the pastor first for the sake of orderliness in the church. She backed her point with Psalm 16: 8–11 which says, “I have set the LORD always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.”
