Following the wide spread speculation that the founder and Senior Pastor of the Daystar Christian Centre, Sam Adeyemi was sharing cash funds to member in reaction to the effect of the coronavirus lockdown, a church member has put the news in right perspective.

It was earlier reported that Pastor Sam Adeyemi, reportedly credited the account of some members of the church with N10, 000 for the Covid-19 lock down support.

A Twitter user by the name Olusola Jaiyeola has put the news in the right perspective while responding to the report by Newsmag.com.ng. He clarified that the clergy man did not credit anyone’s account rather, Daystar Christian Centre has been observing the activity of giving members from their offering even before the Coronavirus lockdown began in Lagos state.

“Please get your facts right, Pst Sam did not credit anybody money, this is what @DaystarNG does with offerings, just like the early church making sure no one goes to bed hungry and it isn’t a new development it happens every Sunday before the pandemic and will continue afterwards,” he said.

However, it seems Daystar had intensify on the effort since the lockdown began. Confirming the report that Daystar had been crediting the account of their members through their cell system that makes it possible to identify distressed members, JJ Omojuwa responded to a question by TweetOracle on Twitter.

The former had asked that: “Pls this gist about Daystar Church crediting their members with N10K each, how true is that???”

In response, JJ Omojuwa said it is true.

It’s true. @DaystarNG, while a mega church has a cell system where members know themselves as you would your friends who may need an intervention. Some got N5,000, some N10,000. Before #Covid19, they always had a food bank and a school intervention system for the poor etc.”

This has generated lots of response online with many commending the efforts of Daystar Christian Centre. See one of such tweets below:

Again I commend @DaystarNG for their Love and relief to their members, I have couple of people that got 5k each and also know one can get foodstuffs just by going to a designated location. This is what Christ left for us b4 we created our own religion. God bless @sam_adeyemi”
