– Anglican Leaders Reject Justin Welby As Leader Of Anglican Global Church

The Anglican Church leaders have rejected Justin Welby as leader of the Anglican Global Church over same-sex marriage.

Earlier in February, the General Synod, which is the Church of England’s legislative assembly, passed a motion to allow the blessing of same-sex couples in civil partnerships.

The Anglican bishops said on Monday during a meeting that the Church of England had gone against the traditional leadership role in the worldwide Anglican Communion by approving the blessing of same-sex relationships earlier this month.

The statement against Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby was signed by archbishops from 10 of the 42 provinces of the global Anglican Communion who represent conservative provinces, mostly in Africa and Asia, that believe homosexuality goes against the Bible.

The Church of England has chosen to break communion with those provinces who remain faithful to the historic biblical faith,” the archbishops wrote.

He also added that “their fidelity to traditional teaching makes it impossible for them to remain connected to it or to other Anglican churches that have adopted liberal teaching on homosexuality.

“This breaks our hearts and we pray for the revisionist provinces to return to tradition.”

They also said;

We pray that our withdrawal of support for Welby to lead the whole Communion is received by him as an admonishment in love.”

The GSFA added that it will take immediate measures to establish a new leadership and work towards re-setting the Anglican Communion in line with the teachings of the Bible.

With the Church of England and the Archbishop of Canterbury forfeiting their leadership role of the global Communion, GSFA Primates will expeditiously meet, consult and work with other orthodox Primates in the Anglican Church across the nations to re-set the Communion on its biblical foundation,” the statement reads.
