– Samuel Leeds To Buy Churches Shutting Down Across England
A British property tycoon, Samuel Leeds has pledged to help rescue churches across England that are at risk of shutting down, saying his mission is driven by a desire to “honour Jesus Christ.”
The businessman, who has made significant investments in real estate, said he is deeply concerned about the growing number of church closures across the country.
In recent years, hundreds of historic church buildings in England have either been sold, repurposed, or left unused due to declining congregations and the rising cost of maintenance.

Motivated by his Christian faith, the tycoon announced plans to purchase struggling church properties and support their restoration so they can continue functioning as places of worship.
According to him, many of these church buildings carry deep spiritual and historical significance, and allowing them to disappear from communities would mean losing an important part of the nation’s religious heritage.

He explained that his goal is not simply to preserve architecture but to ensure that the buildings remain spaces where people can gather for prayer, worship, and community outreach.
The initiative comes at a time when churches across England are grappling with financial pressures, declining attendance, and the high costs associated with maintaining centuries-old structures.
Some congregations have been forced to sell their buildings to developers, leading to their conversion into homes, restaurants, or cultural venues.
Christian leaders and community members have welcomed the pledge, noting that the intervention could provide a lifeline for congregations struggling to keep their doors open.
