YEAH… DADDY IS RICH BUT DADDY IS PRUDENT

“Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.”
– James 4:3

As the Easter season roll over and we bask in the glory of what Christ has done for us, let’s explore a dimension to this verse above.

Every time we “saints” come about this verse, we are always like “ahn, yeah… That ain’t talking about me.” But wait, do you really think so?

Even Christians are not exempted from the things that gives luxury, we also ask that God bless us with these things and He will.

In fact, there was a day God opened my eyes to see a very big conglomerate, you know the type that you need different kind of access and pass through different protocols before you can enter. The building was so tall and gigantic I thought to myself the owners must be making “world class profit” and be able to afford anything they want. God told me, your father owns this and you as a son can have “anything” you want. Can you imagine that? My father is so rich I can have anything! “Anything,” even that which money cannot buy.

Then why is it that as Christians we sometimes ask and do not receive or wait a trying period before we receive?

The reason is because God is the best organizer the world has and will know. Look at the way He divided the day and night, the sea and land, even your body and its organs. The same way He teaches we His “kids” to be like Him, He is rich in the true sense of the word “rich” but unlike the riches of men that is ephemeral and is being lavished on lust, God disciplines His kids and makes sure you can handle the riches He gives to you, be it spiritual, material, mental and more. He is building grown men (teleios men) with phronesis. The type that can manage His resources, not “childish men” like we have in the world who get destroyed by their riches.

At times you may know what you want but God knows what you need and He will give you accordingly to your ability to manage it. He does not like wastes and more importantly, He loves you too much to let you destroy yourself.
