Michelle Williams released Say Yes some few days back and many Nigerians listening to the song must have felt like “oh i know this song!” Well, you intuition is very correct, it’s that same “When Jesus says Yes, Nobody can say no” that was sung in your local church last Sunday or during the mid-week service!
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Michelle revealed the song produced by is an ode to his Nigerian roots.
The report said:
“Helmed by versatile producer Harmony Samuels (Ariana Grande, Maroon 5, Chris Brown, Jennifer Hudson) “Say Yes” is an ode to his Nigerian roots. Says Williams of its origin: “It is a song that came from Africa more than a hundred years ago. I don’t think anyone knows who wrote it or who started singing that chorus. When the song leaked last week, so many people from Africa and Nigeria were trying to let me know where it came from.”
The video for the song was shot in May and will be released soon.
