Despite a recent knee surgery, Gospel singer Tamela Mann chose to personally accept her award for “Best Gospel Artist” at the BET Awards which held on June 29, 2014.
The singer was greatly humbled on Sunday night at the awards show at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles. Her Husband David Mann walked her onto the stage as she limped. Tamela explained to the audience that she had a knee surgery and that’s why her husband had to walk her to the stage.
“I’m a trouper, I’m a week old on Knee surgery,” she said. She wept as she proceeded to give her acceptance speech.
Mann went up against some steep competition in the category for the “Best Gospel Artist” award. The others nominated were Erica Campbell, Donnie McClurkin, Tye Tribbett, and Hezekiah Walker.
