Remember MC Jin? The famous rapper behind the song “Learn Chinese” under Ruff Ryder/Virgin Records who made success for himself as a freestyle rapper close to a decade ago, recently, he shared his story on the journey to finding his footing in the faith-based music market with Christian Post.
Mc Jin who was the first solo Asian rapper to get signed on to a major label talked about varying issues including the content of his music these days compared to earlier in his career when he rapped about the usual fare of “sex, money, and cars. He said the changes in the content is nothing compared with the changes in the perspective.
talking about whether he would ever return to the secular music industry, Jin said:
“I started in the dark. And when I say the dark I’m not saying that those people are dark. I really need to be clear about that… The enemy is not these rappers, to me. The enemy is not these so-called secular rappers. It’s a spiritual thing going on. So when I say dark, it’s from a spiritual standpoint… Now with this new foundation of faith, if He chooses to thrust me back into that darkness, let’s do it baby. I’m ready!”
