Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha assumed the role of a pastor recently when he was seen performing an anointing service at Victory Chapel, Government House, Owerri.

Okorocha and his wife, Nneoma Nkechi, were joined at the church service by other state dignitaries.

The Imo state governor also talked about his plans to develop the roads in the state. According to the governor who addressed the church members, he plans to begin a construction on the dualizaton of Egbu-Awaka-Mbaise and Orji-Ikeduru-Isiala Mbano-Okigwe roads. He revealed that the idea had come to him while he was driving by the road on his way to the church. He stated that his goal is to extend the road. The governor who noted that he doesn’t know how he would get the money to work on the project, added that he believes God would provide.

“This morning I drove myself round town and when I got to Shoprite junction where the dualization ends, I decided that, the road development should be extended. Therefore,by the grace of God,we shall resume, with immediate effect, the dualization of Egbu down to Mbaise road and Orji straight to Okigwe… I don’t know where the money will come from but by faith,we shall accomplish it,” he said.

The pictures of the governor anointing worshippers have been met with mixed reaction from the general public. This is due to the public perception of politicians in the country. Some puritans have questioned why Okorocha was allowed to anoint people, as he is not a cleric. Others felt God can use anyone.

A certain Darol said: “I dont have anything to say…..if God can use Saul…..he can use him as well” while Miss Marvel said; “Watch who lays hands on you.”

“I don’t blame Okorocha for this, I blame the church body, who because of money allowed this to happen.” Arole Oduduwa said.
