In a new report by New York Times, Former Personal Assistant to Gokada boss Fahim Saleh has been linked to the murder of the tech entrepreneur.

The personal assistant has been arrested and will be charged in the murder of Fahim Saleh, the CEO of Gokada in Nigeria. A ride sharing app, and Pathao in Bangladesh.

Fahim Saleh was found decapitated and dismembered in his luxury New York condo dismembered on Monday afternoon. His sister had gone to check on him after he was MIA for about a day.

She found his head and limbs removed and parts  of his body placed in a body bag. An electric saw still plugged nearby.

21 year-old Tyrese Devon Haspil, who was Mr. Fahim’s personal assistant, will be charged in a criminal complaint with second-degree murder and other crimes.

Investigators concluded that Fahim Saleh was killed on Monday, the day before his body was found. The killer used his employer’s credit card to pay for a car to a Home Depot where he bought cleaning supplies to sanitize the crime scene. Haspil returned to the apartment the next day to dismember the body and clean up but was interrupted by the sister’s buzz from the lobby.

The motive for the murder came from the fact that Fahim Saleh had discovered that the Personal Assistant had stolen money from him running into thousands of dollars. Mr Saleh did not report to the police but instead set up a repayment plan for the assistant, who chose to rather kill Mr. Saleh.

The family of Mr. Saleh is devastated about the gruesome murder. In a statement on Wednesday, they described the murder as “shocking and unfathomable”

The statement said there is more to Fahim Saleh “than what you are reading. He is much more.” It went further to say his intelligent mind “took everyone who was part of his world on a journey and he [] never leave anyone behind.”

At the time of his death, Mr. Saleh was Nigeria’s Gokada’s CEO and oversaw the transformation of the business during a turbulent time. In February 2020, Lagos state authorities began banning motorcycle taxis in large commercial and residential areas which affected the primary business of Gokada in Nigeria.
