Veteran gospel artiste, pastor and songwriter, Nathaniel Bassey goes viral after taking to his social media page, and urging others to join him in his “JESUS” challenge, on Tuesday, the 7th of June 2022.
The pastor who dropped the Jesus challenge on all his social media page, went viral on all platforms across the country, bringing fellow gospel artiste and pastors to also join the challenge and also causing mixed reaction from celebrities and Nigerians.
Nathaniel Bassey, whose intention towards the trend was to proclaim the name of Jesus in the land, due to political unrest and the presidential primary elections which was in view, said:
“Can we make this our profile picture at 12 noon on all your social media handles? (WAT) in a few minutes Time. And also share as a post on your timeline and as your story. And for the rest of the day ??? And also declare that name into the atmosphere ! JESUS!
Let the world ask what is going on.
And we’ll tell them – JESUS IS GOING ON!”
Following the opposition that accompanied the challenge, Nathaniel Bassey said he was not perturbed knowing fully well that at the name of Jesus, demons cry out.
“And suddenly they cried out, saying, “What have we to do with You, Jesus, You Son of God? Have You come here to torment us before the time?” – Matthew 8:29

Reacting against the Jesus challenge and criticizing it, saying he was trying to make money from the trend was popular social media personnel Daddy Freeze. He took to his Instagram page to condemn the act. He said people should be emcourage to get PVC instead and Nathaniel was only looking for other means to chase clout.
