– New Music Ayobola Elegbede tagged My Rock
Ayobola Elegbede is a Nigerian-born Irish singer-songwriter passionate about revealing God’s love for releasing joy and restoring hope to all around her.
Ayobola has always been one with a heart and ears for music even from childhood. Her encounter with gospel music however started in her teens, while attending Comprehensive High School (Compro), Aiyetoro. Ogun State, Nigeria.
As a member of the Christian fellowship while in Compro, Ayobola also became one of the premier members of the Christian fellowship choir between 1985 and 1991.
In 2012, Ayobola released her debut album ‘Igba Ope – Offering Of Thanks’ and went on to release her acclaimed music video, ‘Praise Him’ in 2022. Ayobola is currently working on her second album with its first single, ‘MY ROCK’ released in October 2023.
‘MY ROCK’ is a declaration of faith that we can do the impossible regardless of adverse and unpleasant circumstances when we stand on the Rock, the word of God and take bold steps of faith toward what we believe.
On the inspiration behind her latest single, Ayobola said; “On the 3rd of March, 2015, I attended the women’s prayer meeting at my local church. There, we shared and prayed about the different challenging circumstances we struggled with.
”I wasn’t feeling particularly joyful that day, so I decided to share about a difficult situation that I had been dealing with for a long time, which didn’t seem to be improving at all. I felt trapped and unable to escape this situation.

“After sharing about my circumstance, the other ladies prayed with me and my pastor encouraged me by declaring God’s word over me.
”I went home after the meeting, but couldn’t stop thinking about the words my pastor had spoken over me and I fell asleep still meditating on her words. And in the space of a few hours, the Holy Spirit began to speak the words of ‘MY ROCK’ to me in my dream.
“My life has never been the same again since I woke up from my dream that day. After many years since that dream, the lyrics of ‘MY ROCK’ continue to remain my anchor anthem when I feel helpless, depressed, disabled or imperfect.
