– Michigan Church Attack Kills 4 And Leaves Others Injured

Police report that at least four people were killed and eight others injured after a gunman rammed his vehicle into a Michigan church, opened fire, and set the building on fire ina serious attack.

The assailant rammed his vehicle into the church, opened fire on worshippers, and set the building ablaze, resulting in at least four deaths and eight injuries.

The incident took place at around 10.25am local time on Sunday at the venue of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Grand Blanc Township, Michigan, about 50 miles north of Detroit.

The suspect, identified as Thomas Jacob Sanford, 40, from Burton, Michigan, was later shot dead by police in the church car park.

Sanford drove a vehicle through the front doors of the church before opening fire with an assault rifle, police said.

He then exited the vehicle and began firing rounds at people who were attending Sunday service, before deliberately starting the blaze, police added.

Police Chief Renye said that when the shooting started, members of the church put themselves in danger to protect the children.

“They shielded the kids and moved them to safety. It was an act of great courage,” he explained.

Michigan governor, Gretchen Whitmer said in a statement that; “my heart is breaking for the Grand Blanc community” after the shooting.

She added: “Violence anywhere, especially in a place of worship, is unacceptable. I am grateful to the first responders who took action quickly.”
