– Donald Trump Awards Charlie Kirk Presidential Medal of Freedom

US President Donald Trump hailed assassinated ally Charlie Kirk as a “martyr for truth and freedom” on Tuesday, October 13, as he posthumously awarded the right-wing activist America’s highest civilian honor.

Handing the Presidential Medal of Freedom to Kirk’s tearful widow, Erika Kirk, Trump compared the 31-year-old conservative to Socrates, Saint Peter, Abraham Lincoln and Martin Luther King.

Erika Kirk, Kirk’s widow and now the CEO of Turning Point USA, accepted the award on her husband’s behalf at the Rose Garden ceremony. Introducing the award, a military aide announced that the US honors Kirk as “a martyr for truth and freedom.”

Turning to Trump after accepting the award, Erika Kirk said, “Thank you, Mr. President, for honoring my husband in such a profound and meaningful way, and thank you for making this event a priority with amid the peace process in the Middle East.”

Vice President JD Vance, second lady Usha Vance, Attorney General Pam Bondi, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, FBI Director Kash Patel and several other Cabinet members were in attendance.

Guests at the ceremony also included visiting Argentinian President Javier Milei, a libertarian firebrand, and a host of conservative US media personalities.
