Nigerian preacher Dr. Andy Osakwe has sparked conversation online after strongly criticizing the doctrine commonly referred to as “Once Saved, Forever Saved” or “Once Saved and Forever Secured.”

While speaking, Osakwe described the teaching as “actually demonic,” arguing that it gives believers a false sense of eternal security while ignoring the biblical call to continue in faith and holy living.

According to the cleric, salvation should not be treated as a license to live carelessly. He maintained that Christians are expected to remain steadfast in their walk with God, warning that teachings which suggest a believer’s eternal destiny can never be affected by how they live are inconsistent with Scripture.

The doctrine of “Once Saved, Forever Saved,” often associated with the concept of eternal security, has long been a subject of debate among Christian denominations.

While some churches teach that a genuinely saved believer cannot lose salvation, others maintain that believers must continue in faith and obedience, citing several biblical passages that warn against falling away.

Osakwe’s remarks have since generated discussions among Christians, with supporters agreeing that believers should pursue a life of holiness, while others continue to defend the doctrine of eternal security based on their theological convictions.
