What began as a deeply personal encounter with God has now become a powerful worship expression as gospel singer Nak Jently unveils her latest single, “You Have Spoken.” The song captures a journey through delayed dreams, unanswered questions, setbacks, and ultimately, a renewed confidence in the faithfulness of God.
The inspiration for You Have Spoken came during a difficult season when Nak was crying out to God over failed dreams, unfulfilled visions, and her desire to accomplish great things for His kingdom. In the midst of that uncertainty, God used Scripture to remind her that she did not have to carry the burden of figuring everything out herself—He was already working on her behalf.
That encounter became the foundation of the song, turning what began as a personal conversation with God into a declaration of trust: when God has spoken, His word remains true, even when circumstances appear to say otherwise.
Bringing the song to life, however, would take several years. Delays and unexpected setbacks caused Nak to eventually set the project aside as she moved on to other musical endeavors. Yet, years later, after experiencing difficulties with projects that had once flourished, she sensed God drawing her back to a deeper place of worship and intimacy with Him.
That renewed journey eventually led Nak to Pastor Nathaniel Bassey and the Hallelujah Challenge, where she began developing a deeper understanding of worship beyond music. During the Hallelujah Challenge, she discovered producer Mr. Wols and reached out to him, leading to an unexpected opportunity to collaborate on the song.
What began as a simple musical connection grew into a broader creative collaboration involving Matthew Harden, the Holy Cross Lutheran School Choir, audio engineers Darren Usher and Wallace Smith, and film producer Torri Brown, who documented the journey behind the project.
Despite the logistical challenges of bringing together creatives across Nigeria and the United States, Nak witnessed God’s faithfulness at every stage of the process. The delays that once seemed discouraging ultimately became part of the story behind the song.
At its heart, “You Have Spoken” is a song of gratitude, surrender, and encouragement. It speaks to everyone waiting on a promise, navigating a difficult season, or wondering when something God has spoken will come to pass. Through the song, Nak reminds listeners that God’s timing does not cancel His promises and that His faithfulness remains constant, even in seasons of waiting.
Nak Jently’s prayer is that You Have Spoken will help listeners remember what God has already done, trust Him with what lies ahead, and find renewed strength to keep believing in His word.

ABOUT NAK JENTLY JOURNEY
Like many, I started in a kids choir where I was taught to sing in church. Youth choir is where I learned the foundation of worship, so it was important to me to record with young voices. My hope is always to pour into young people the way I was poured into as a child.
When I went to college, I stopped singing for a long time because I was growing my movement skills in competitive dance. Eventually, competition became wearisome for me, and my love for singing brought me back to choir and praise team, where I could focus on an audience of one— Jesus.
Unfortunately, my focus wasn’t as devoted as I wanted it to be because my walk with the Lord was full of stumbling, failing, and falling. It wasn’t until I experienced a season of great losses that I saw the Lord “surround me with songs of deliverance” like David mentioned in psalm 32:7 when he was reflecting on God’s forgiveness. In that season, I saw God do what I call putting tunes to my tears. My weeping while worshipping before Jesus opened my spirit up to receiving the responses that he was giving me.
I began to grow in my desire to spend time in His presence. It was in that place of worship that I received His love letters, His corrections, and His instructions through melodies. Eventually, the melodies came often enough that I realized the Lord had given me a new gift of writing music, even though I didn’t play a traditional instrument. My voice became my trumpet and I learned to work with audio engineers to produce the music.
