Joshua Aghasedo, the pastor of Powerline Church, has sparked debate among Nigerians after expressing his view that the use of sex toys is not a sin when used by married couples.

Aghasedo made the remarks while addressing his congregation in a sermon, in comments that have since circulated widely online.

Responding to a question about whether using a sex toy amounts to sin, Aghasedo compared such devices with everyday equipment such as cars and mobile phones.

“Is using a sex toy a sin? Is driving a car a sin? … Using the phone, is it a sin?” he asked, according to reports of the sermon.

The pastor said he had never personally used a sex toy but argued that modern technology could provide assistance to married couples in their intimate lives.

He further disclosed that he had previously recommended a sex toy to a married couple after considering their circumstances, saying his intention was to help address difficulties within the marriage and prevent either partner from seeking intimacy outside the relationship.

Aghasedo, however, emphasized that his position was specifically about married couples.

According to him, the use of sex toys should remain within the framework of marriage and should not be interpreted as an endorsement of their use outside marriage.

His comments have triggered discussions online about Christianity, marriage, sexual intimacy and whether modern devices can have a place within Christian relationships.
