– Campus Fellowship President Doesn’t Make You Pastor – Eric Gugua

Nigerian content creator and social commentator, Eric Gugua, has sparked conversations among Christians after stating that being a president of a campus fellowship does not automatically qualify someone to be called a pastor.

Gugua made the observation while addressing the distinction between leadership positions in campus fellowships and the pastoral calling within the Christian faith.

According to him, occupying a leadership position in a university fellowship should not automatically be interpreted as evidence that an individual has been called into pastoral ministry.

His comments have drawn attention to the growing tendency among some former campus fellowship leaders to adopt pastoral titles after leaving university, raising questions about the difference between holding a leadership position and having a genuine calling to ministry.

The discussion also touches on the importance of understanding spiritual leadership, responsibility and the biblical principles surrounding pastoral ministry.

Gugua, who is known for his conversations on faith, culture, relationships and societal issues, has continued to use his online platform to challenge popular assumptions and encourage critical conversations among young Nigerians.

His remarks have opened up a wider conversation about church leadership, the use of religious titles and whether positions held in campus fellowships should be regarded as preparation for pastoral ministry or simply a form of student leadership.
