– Kirk Franklin wins BET 2020 in the Best Gospel award category
Multi award winning American gospel musician and song writer, Kirk Franklin has won the Bobby Jones Best Gospel award category at the 2020 BET Awards for his hit single “Just For Me” which was off the album Long Live Love.
The veteran Gospel music minister fended off strong contentions from the likes of Kanye west, Fred Hammond, The Clark Sisters and more to bag the prestigious award. Kirk Franklin was then presented with the award by insecure star Amanda Seales.
Kirk Franklin who started the year by winning “Best Gospel Performance/song” at the just concluded GRAMMY Award continued in his fine streak of award collecting as he bags his 4th BET award. The platinum-selling artist was also just named songwriter of the year at BMI’s 2020 Trailblazers of Gospel Music event.
Franklin took the top award for writing three of BMI’s most performed gospel songs of 2019 “If You Don’t Mind,” “Love Theory” and “Never Alone.” Franklin has now won 17 BMI Awards to go with his 16 Grammys and numerous other awards.

The award which was premiered online due to the restrictions on gatherings as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic, also saw Franklin performed his award winning song “Just For Me”. Gospel music ministers Kierra & Karen Clark Sheard closed the show with their ministration of “Something Has To Break”
