– The Lord’s Garden of the Dunamis International Gospel Centre in Abuja sets record for the largest church auditorium!
The Lord’s Garden of the Dunamis International Gospel Centre in Abuja, Nigeria is nearing completion and rivals Living Faith Church aka Winners Chapel, which holds the largest seating capacity in the world as marked by the Guinness Book of Records.
The structure is set to hold a 100,000 seating capacity which tops Winners Chapel that holds a 50,000 seating capacity, although the exterior holds about 250,000 capacity in one service according to Pews Research, making it the 2nd church with the largest congregation in Africa as at 2016.
Dunamis International Gospel Centre is led by Dr. Pastor Paul Enenche. The roof spans 228m and will cover 22,148m2 – that’s over 2 hectares (5 acres) without any interior columns!
The project is being undertaken by Geometrica. Geometrica , Inc. designs and builds Domes and free form structures for Architectural and Industrial Applications. Any delay in the completion of the structure is due to the process, not funding. The workers on site testify that they can’t explain themselves what’s going on as this could only be God at work.
The structure was initially billed to take 75,000 and as construction went on, it was realized that it could hold up to 85,000 but with some adjustments factored in a few places, its capacity will be 100,000 on completion.
The auditorium has no single visible pillar supporting it as the pillars are embedded in the walls while the beauty of the suspended doom roof is more obvious. At the time of the visit, pictures of the inside were not allowed to be taken but it is a view better beheld than explained.
Other facilities already on ground are the secondary school, event center, the garden, housing estate building prototype, streetlights and ringroad to complement the tarred road.
It is said that inspite of the level of work ongoing at the site, no single mention of ‘building offering’ was made in any of the 6 overflooded services on Sunday.
