“But let us, since we belong to the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and, for a helmet, the hope of salvation.”
-1 Thessalonians 5:8
Jesus, while He was on earth displayed a very meek character but did you notice how He handled demons and those who are not of the kingdom? So military!
This is the lifestyle we are to emulate. Men are to see a very humble and loving child of God in our character but the kingdom of darkness should dread the fact that they have to deal with us each day. We should frustrate their very existence!
A man of God once said during an award ceremony that each day he gets out of bed, he wants the kingdom of darkness to scamper saying; “oh dear… He’s up!” (Paraphrased).
I reckon this should be the life of every Christian because looking at Christ. He was loving, peaceful and everything beautiful but He will face the most notorious demons, command them out of the oppressed and they obeyed! The legions that were so many in the body of a man, even told him they knew him! Translation: He has warred and defeated their kingdom so they know their place.
The bible says Christ is the head of all principality, therefore as “Christ-ians,” what business do you have with sickness, failures, disappointment and the likes when you are suppose to bring the war to their base? It’s all a strategy and you can either be on the offensive or defensive but wherever, you are, make sure you don’t throw a pity party… be cofident and fight because you will win!
The bible verse I chose for this post is not because I have not come across Ephesians 6:13 (however I recommend you read the verse to verse 18) but I love the way faith, love and military armaments are being used side by side in the verse above. It shows our outward should be sober but in the spirit, there should be a military. If it’s not a fight, why wear a breastplate? what do you need an helmet for? Therefore, As a man of the spirit, one has to always be at alert, watchful so that he who stand does not fall and shake up the kingdom of darkness such that they will scamper every time you get out of bed saying “oh dear… he’s up!”
