PATIENCE
“It came to pass at the end of twenty years, when Solomon had built the house of the Lord and his own house…”– 2 Chronicles 8:1 [KJV]
And we come to the end of this amazing wealth series! It’s been really great sharing these principles with you, and I know I have tried to simplify these lessons but these rules, if applied diligently can transform your life to a chain of winning experiences, even if it does not feel that way at the initial stages.
Our concluding principle is that of “patience.” Patience play a very important part in the hierachy of success. The success ladder will demand… Yes… demand that you be patient most times and delay gratification.
These may mean, wait on your expectation, wait before you bask in the success… Or endure some unpleasant situations… All in all… The principle of patience is key and cannot be undermined.
It took Solomon 20 years to build the temple and his house… Consider the resources that must have gone into that, the day-to-day challenges and more… Yet with enduring strenght, focus and determination, Solomon went on to build the historical temple.
Everything good takes time… There is a funny saying which people only laugh about but fail to take into cognizance its cogency; it says “don’t be in a hurry, so that you will not be sorry.” Such a funny play on word but it is so true.
In these jet age, there are a lot of get rich quick schemes but have you ever pondered how long it took the initiator to put the idea together? Also, people want to take short cut, do illegal business and make fast cash but take a good look at the life of that person, does it glorify God? I said in our previous message that success is not success except it glorifies God, I still stand by it.
God is a very organized master. He is interested in blessing you but also interested in the growth process to the blessings and growth takes patience, afterall, it’s not the day you give birth to a baby that he or she starts to talk, walk and so on. Wouldn’t it feel weird if the day you were born was the day you start eating, walking and talking? So also is riches without spiritual and personal growth (growth within)… But it is funny, this is the kind of success the world celebrates today.
The temple which Solomon built, we learned, is very beautiful both within and without but that beautiful edifice took 20 years to achieve. There is a price to pay for success… Are you willing to pay?
