Jesus therefore said to them, “Most certainly, I tell you, it wasn’t Moses who gave you the bread out of heaven, but my Father gives you the true bread out of heaven.” – John 6:32
The miracles God did when he moved the Israelites out of Egypt was a big deal – it’s still is – but when Jesus came to the earth in the form of flesh, he tried to tell the people, they were missing the 2nd miracle of manner right before their eyes.
A crowd sought Jesus because he had performed the miracle of multiplying loaves of bread. When Jesus found them out and told them their real intention of seeking him, they told Jesus to show them a miracle so that they can believe making reference to the miracle of the manner done in time past.
Jesus told them, “hey look right here. I am that miracle of manner standing before you. I’ve got enough manner to sustain you physically and spiritually too.”
For the bread of God is that which comes down out of heaven, and gives life to the world.” – John 6:33
The people didn’t understand, they wanted literal bread. Jesus was saying He would supply their both their daily physical and spiritual needs if they took his words and life into their souls, He was saying he would give them everlasting life!
We are often too limited by the things we see, forgetting that the things that are seen are made of things that are not seen. Jesus doesn’t want to be only satisfy our needs, He wants us! He wants to give us meaning, He wants to give us true life and this can only be done if we open our eyes and see that just like the Israelites who had manner for forty years, we have manner everyday!
Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will not be hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty.” – John 6:35
