Without delay I hurry
to obey your commands” -Psalm 119:60
When God gives an instruction, your response to God should be immediate, otherwise you will start to rationalize the instruction. Even worst, you may procrastinate.
If you believe God loves you, and you want to live a life of obedience in response to his love, then, your response should be immediate! Once you are certain it is God, forget logic and just go for it!
God will not – in most cases – roll out a 10-year-plan for you. He will only give instructions relevant to the present time and the obedience to the instructions will unlock the key to the next level.
First John 5:3 says,
This is love for God, to obey his commands. And his commands are not burdensome.” (NIV)
There are times God will give you instructions but you will wave it aside because it demeans your self esteem or it looks too burdensome.
Consider if Namaan had not gone to wash in the dirty river Jordan because of his reputation (2 Kings 5), would he have been healed of leprosy?
We decide God instructions are burdensome because of procrastination or because it demeans our self esteem, but you cannot completely follow God until you lose your mind!
I know that sounds crazy but there are times God will defile logic and all that is expected of you is not to think it through but just follow through and immediately too! When we don’t act right away, it becomes harder to do the longer we wait. But when we do what God says, freedom comes into our lives.
What is God calling you to do? Is it a phone call you need to make? An action you need to take? Whatever it is, write it down right now, tell God you’re willing to do it, and ask him to give you the strength you need to make it happen
