Galley Monila’s “I’m In Love With A Church Girl,” starring Jeff “Ja Rule” Atkin and Adrienne Bailon has become quite a hit after a strong opening weekend in theaters.
Currently, the movie ranks #1 independent movie in theaters, with Rolling Stone calling the film “the biggest indie debut this week,” showing on more than 450 screens averaging, per screen $2300.
The movie stars Jeff “Ja’ Rule” Atkin, Adrienne Bailon, Stephen Baldwin, Vincent Pastore, Michael Madsen, T-Bone, Martin Kove and TobyMac, with Steve Race directing.
The story focuses on Ja’ Rule who tries to find “faith and redemption” from a past of crime after meeting the girl of his dream, Bailon, who happens to be a church girl. The story is similar to Ja’Rule’s attempts to rededicate his life to God, Recently, he encouraged rapper DMX to seek God in order to combat many of his well-publicized troubles including his child support issues that have him owing $1.2 million.
He said in a recent interview:
“This is America, We love to see people bounce back. We love that comeback story. I don’t think it’s far off for X to come back and do something significant, and people to love him again. I think he just needs to maybe see God. It has to be something drastic that changes the way he lives and the way he goes about his everyday lifestyle. Hopefully he’ll realize that what he’s doing is destructive.”
