SELAH’S JOURNAL: THE VOICE IN MY HEAD

Just as I was about to touch the hot pan with my bare hand, I heard a voice in my head saying ‘Don’t!”

I would have been really burnt and maybe even spilled its hot contents on myself causing further damage if not for the voice that said ‘Don’t,’ stopping me right in my tracks.

We sometimes get these warnings from ‘something’ that tells us what to do and not do. For me, that ‘something’ is the Holy Spirit. What that incident taught me was that God does care about me. If He stopped me from touching a hot pan, He’ll do the same when I’m about to make a ‘life-burning’ decision.

He loves me so much He won’t leave the tiniest thing such as burning my skin to chance and He sure won’t do the same when my life is at stake.

To be honest, I’m relieved I didn’t get burned but I’m more relieved because it is as a result of the fact that someone is watching over me. The point here is that He’s doing the same for you. He said, He will never leave you nor forsake you but I urge you to listen for times when He speaks. Don’t turn deaf ears to His voice and then blame Him for not speaking because – think about this –

“If His eyes are on the sparrow, then how much more you?”

…your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way. Walk in it.” – Isaiah 30:21
