I have received full payment and have more than enough. I am amply supplied, now that I have received from Epaphroditus the gifts you sent. They are a fragrant offering, an acceptable sacrifice, pleasing to God. 19 And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 4:18-19
There is a grace released when you pray for others especially in your time of desperation when you will rather keep the focus on yourself. Job knew this too well so when God told him to pray for his friends, despite what he was going through, he did not hesitate to do so and therefore, he released his own breakthrough.
The saying goes, do to others as you will have them do to you. Praying for others, especially those you will rather not want to be bothered about is a great level of love one can show to another person because you are actually asking God to bless that person despite your feelings.
In the book of Philippians that is before us this morning, Paul was praying for the church at Philippe that God will bless them and alot of Christian like to quote this verse to lay claim of their inheritance in God but the truth is that the verse does not belong to you. It belongs to the person you should bless with it.
Paul prayed for the church that the Lord will supply all their needs according to God’s riches in Christ, he did this because the church ministered to him so much that he said in the verse 18 that he has everything he needed already. The same Paul in another chapter said he knows how to abase and abound.
This makes us see that spiritual maturity entails that we see ourselves as possessing all we need already therefore, we are not to scuttle to grab what God has already given to us, instead bless the sources which God is going to use to meet your needs in advance like Paul did. He first of all declare that he already possessed all things therefore the next verse is the key that unlocked the provision by blessing the source which God used to meet his needs. Even if it seems as if you have not seen the provision, bless the source because really, even the source is not the source. It’s just a channel God will use for you. God Himself is the source!
