I used to look at other people and see what God is doing in their life. I will think to myself, this person is so blessed, the other is so favoured.
Concept like being blessed, being favoured, graced and more were strange to me because of where I was at the time.
I searched for ways to be happy and I used to think that if only I can fulfill my goal or have a particular thing, then I will be happy – until I had the Jesus-experience.
The word of God said “I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious and I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy” (Exodus 33:19). this verse used to throw me off course and justify how I felt about being favoured or blessed. Therefore, I used to pray such prayers to God asking him to please favour me or bless me too but the book of Hebrews 4 makes me realized that Jesus, our High Priest has gone before us and has poured His grace and mercy on us such that when He finished His work on the cross, Exodus 33:19 became a privilege we share corporately.
It says:
Since we have a great high priest, Jesus the Son of God, who has gone into heaven, let us hold on to the faith we have. For our high priest is able to understand our weaknesses. He was tempted in every way that we are, but he did not sin. Let us, then, feel very sure that we can come before God’s throne where there is grace. There we can receive mercy and grace to help us when we need it.” – Hebrews 4: 14-16
Therefore, being favoured, blessed, graced is not for some certain set of people, it is for us all but are you bold enough to take your rightful place in Jesus? Like the Christian rapper Da T.R.U.T.H puts it; “Jesus is for everybody.”
