I am constantly reminded of my past relationships that didn’t work out, not because of ‘irreconcilable differences,’ but because the goal of the relationship was conceived out of lust.
When most of this relationships came crumbling down, I had to face the harsh reality that most of the ladies needed to move on and I needed to get my life together.
Lust can shift your focus from what you need to what you think you need so that you are served with momentary pleasures which will come crumbling down on you. The reason why we feel we need a partner is because we have momentary needs that we feel should be met but that is being canal minded. God designed partners for marriage and the book of Provabs 24:27 clearly states that one should get his acts together before venturing into marriage. These days most people are neglecting the needful and rushing in and out of marriage. This too is lust and the reason why men fail.
Instead of looking for the next relationship, I started looking for ways to bring out my values. At this point, I turned to God. It took years but I have finally come to realize I am not living for me but for His glory, forget about values, follow God’s will and He will point you in the right direction.
If more men chase God the way they chase ladies and plan for Him the way they’re planning for the wedding event, God can help you channel the energy spent on futile efforts into something beautiful and productive that will benefit the human race and also, God’s Kingdom and still give you a happy home.
If married men are not going out to find succour in a mistress or strong drink when things looks tough at home, maybe… Just maybe half of the problem could be sorted out.
“The Cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, liars, idolaters will have their part in the lake which burns with fire” – says Revelation 21:8.
If it is possible to enjoy a little bit of Heaven here on earth for the righteous, it is also possible for the unrighteous to suffer a little bit of hell here on earth. Watch out for lust with fervency.
