Selah's Journal: Don't Take The Heart On A Journey Without The Mind

“Through wisdom is an house builded; and by understanding it is established: And by knowledge shall the chambers be filled with all precious and pleasant riches.” –Proverbs 24:3-4

Do you know that emotions have a switch and you can turn it on and off? This is the reason why you can hear a not so good news and decide to act calmly despite the fact that your emotion may be begging to spiral out of control.

It’s God’s nature to love but He commands us to love because the flesh is naturally against the nature of God. It is the spirit that makes it possible for us to love like God loves.

However, wisdom is profitable to direct and when you go on an emotional journey with your heart, never forget to also take your brain along. In this case, 3 is a good company not a crowd.

People say things like ‘we met and we just fell in love’, ‘I can’t control how I feel’. I want you to know those are lies meant to control you. The truth is anyone who can’t control is emotions can’t control his/her life.

Therefore relationship is not something that his supposed to trap you and Apostle Paul admonishes us in 1 Corinthians 7 that while marriage is not a necessity, you should get married if you want to, but be ready to befriend reasoning as your heart yields to your partner, just as the bible makes us to understand in Proverbs 24:3-4.

You know you are ready for relationship or marriage when your reasoning can detect warning signals and you can take precautions unrepentantly. That is, when your reason for relationship is not based on gratifying your neediness. A complete man/woman needs nothing and everything else added to him/her only comes to complement his/her completeness.
