But you shall remember the LORD your God: for it is He that gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore unto your fathers, as it is this day.
-Deuteronomy :18
If God gave us all what we wanted when we wanted it, it would have caused us our lives thus, He commanded the children of Israel saying “You shall remember the Lord your God.”
One thing peculiar to this chapter of Deuteronomy is the time taken to elaborate on the hardship the children of Israel went through before getting into the promise land. The chapter did not only talk about the hardship, but also the reason why God did it.
He said; “I did it to test you…” God needed to let their heart be firm on Him rather than letting them focus on what they can obtain from God. We see that the generation of the children of Israel who came out of Egypt got destroyed in the wilderness because their heart wasn’t right.
So also in our lives, if one’s heart is not right, there is high tendency one can destroy oneself not God. Therefore the best thing to do is to learn the beautiful art of waiting on God with enthusiasm.
God will give you everything He has promised but are you really ready to handle it?!
