The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and terrible day of the Lord come. And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of theLord shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the Lord hath said, and in the remnant whom the Lord shall call.” – Joel 2: 31-32
One of the privilege a child of God enjoys is knowing the secret things which God plans to do in the future and as 2015 is winding up, my spirit has been prompting the phrase ‘The Day of the Lord’.
Naturally, I will go into the scripture and let the spirit of the Lord expand the message in me and I am discovering that the day of the Lord is both a favourable and a terrible day. Most importantly, it prompts one of the second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
No one know exactly when Jesus is coming back but as we go into 2016 and with this prompting in mind, we should be prepared because the word of the Lord makes us understand that on the day of the Lord, only those who call upon the name of the Lord will be save.
Many people think this born again thing is by one’s power and you can only stay born again when you are ready to take the decision and back it up with corresponding action. If this were true, I tell you no one would have been ready to give his life to Christ even right now… I bet Paul, Peter and the likes were not ready either.
Being born again goes beyond a decision and backing it up with corresponding action, it is the work of the spirit to transform us from living by and for the flesh to living by the spirit. This transformation starts with a decision to confess the name of Jesus, and to believe that God raised Him from the dead (Rom 10:9). After the decision and confession is made, the bulk of the work belongs to the spirit because if I am just making a decision and backing it with action, it is only a matter of time before I fall back into sin but it is the spirit – as I begin to behold the image of Jesus by getting into the word and communion daily (2 Cor 3:18) – that transforms my nature and put in me the nature of Christ by which I am able to overcome sin and its consequences.
This is why on the day of the Lord, it’s not the perfect ones that will be saved, No! It is those who call upon the name of the Lord for help that will be saved. It is not those who keep the law but those who confess Jesus and believe in their heart that God raised Him from the dead. I believe God just simplified the process of acquiring the salvation ticket, what are you waiting for? Hop on the bus today!
