If you are an award organizer, don’t give Wilson Joel award this year. This is according to the request by the prolific producer.
Having lined up the shelf with many awards including a number for hit single by Glowreeyah Braimah “Miracle Worker”, prolific producer & Steinberg African ambassador Wilson Joel has said he does not want award this year.
Wilson Joel who believe award is a form of packaging said he wants to build his content more this year. He further said there are more producers who deserve the recognition and the organisers of these awards should focus on them this year.
“I’d rather stick to rewards,” Wilson said. “Packaging without content is totally self destructive. I apologize to all the nominations I have turned down (precisely 4 so far) I do believe Nigeria has other amazing music producers
Wilson concluded by stating that “This has nothing to do with ego but everything to do with developing a nation beyond image. So, it’s totally okay if I never ever get nominated again or have burnt down the bridges to awards by this pure-hearted post. Just know that I’ll like to focus more henceforth on my content than my packaging. If at all I have to be awarded, it can be given without being nominated or limited to a category for whatever reasons the organizers feel it’s due me based on my work but again I’m not really bothered as long as we all make it. Bottom line is this, let us give other people a shot at proper recognition”.
