– Hezekiah Walker calls out Lecrae over BET Awards

Multi-award winning American Gospel singer and Bishop Hezekiah Walker has called out rapper Lecrae for accepting the BET Award for Best Gospel/Inspirational Artist after claiming not to be a Gospel rapper.

Lecrae won the award for Best Gospel/Inspirational Artist at the BETs and credited artistes such as Lauryn Hill, Kendrick Lamar, Outkast, and Chance the Rapper for their contribution in bringing spiritual influence to Hip Hop. Following the BET award ceremony, Bishop Hezekiah Walker in a post on Instagram called out the rapper.

“Hahz, Twyse, Da’Truth thank you for staying true to the Gospel as a Gospel Rapper. #BETAwards,” Walker’s infographic on Instagram reads. “It’s ok not to be a true gospel artist but if NOT don’t accept the AWARD give it to those who are..”

Supporting the bishop was Gospel singer and pastor Deitrick Haddon‘s wife shared a similar post saying

“I 100% agree and approve this message! We can’t use the vehicle of gospel to take us to our destination then act like the vehicle didn’t get you there because it isn’t cool or popular,” she wrote. “It wasn’t a good representation of Christian unity.”

However, some of Lecrae’s fans are not having it. They oppose the bishop’s post telling him not to use his platform to tear down another child of God.
