Popular Cameroonian pastor, Frankline Ndifor who claimed he could heal Coronavirus patients dies from the virus days after he reportedly laid his hands on dozens of confirmed and suspected COVID-19 victims.
The pastor who was known for claiming that he could miraculously cure COVID-19 was the head of Kingship International Ministries Church. He was also a candidate in the country’s last presidential election. He reportedly laid hands on hundreds of people suspected to have contracted the disease for prayers.
The doctor who treated Ndifor, Dr Gaelle Nnanga told reporters that the Pastor died less than 10 minutes after suffering severe respiratory difficulties resulting from COVID-19. He also stated that he took a medical team to the late Pastor’s house after he got calls from some members of Ndifor’s Kingship International Ministries Church that he was having severe respiratory difficulties.
Following the death of the clergyman, he has since been buried in front of his residence by workers of the country’s COVID-19 response team in Douala. According to the BBC, Ndifor’s family and followers had planned to contest the death ruling and keep the body for his resurrection. Police needed teargas to disperse the crowd, then forcefully removed the corpse for a quick burial.
So far, Cameroon has recorded 3,529 confirmed cases of coronavirus with 140 deaths recorded.
