Alex Amos encourages us to draw closer to god by being a faithful witness | Bible Study – 22nd July 2020
“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” – James 1:2-5
The reason why we are Christians mainly is to bear witness. Yes, we have needs that should be met. There are life’s challenges that needs immediate attention and God is going to meet them all. But the major purpose of our Christianity here on earth is to be a channel by which many more can see Jesus.
So if you look at it this way, you will realize that your challenge is not really your challenge. It is a channel by which God meets others.

The reason you are dealing with that challenge that is making you draw closer to God is that when the cup is full and running over, your testimony, experience and result will be a blessing to someone else. By which means, that person too can draw closer to God.
This perspective can change everything!
You will come to appreciate challenges for what they are – challenges! A challenge is something you face and conquer, like we have social media challenges these days. It’s an opportunity to show you have mastered that part of life and showcase your potentials. So also are life’s challenges although they catch us unaware and sometimes, unprepared.
Few years back, I remember mastering the challenge of thriving in the midst of a very frustrating job so well (with the help of the Holy Spirit as I take instructions on daily basis) that I began to thank God for going through the challenge.
I learned a big lesson from that experience that life’s challenges are there so that you can master them. When you become a master at an experience, you can be a blessing to others in more ways than one! So it is really not about you, it’s about witnessing Christ!
