The senior pastor and founder of Citadel Community Church, formally known as the Latter Rain Assembly, Tunde Bakare has completed the mega-church building project, reportedly worth N18 billion.
A short distance from the old Daystar Christian Center, the new structure is located at First Bank bus stop, Okpebi, Oregun Road, Ikeja. The new structure known as “The Citadel” will serve as the church’s new auditorium.
For many years, Pastor Tunde Bakare has been running the Latter Rain Church at a single location on Akilo Road, Ogba, Lagos, without any other branch anywhere. It tried to establish some branches a few years ago but soon its status was restored.
According to Wikipedia, Pastor Bakare, who was born a Muslim, converted to Christianity in 1974.
The Nigerian pastor was reportedly arrested in March 2002 after delivering a critical sermon about the then-President Olusegun Obasanjo.
Described as one of Nigeria’s most politically influential clergy, he was the running mate of President Muhammadu Buhari in the 2011 presidential election.
Former pastor of the Deeper Life Bible Church, he left to join the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), but later left to put his own ministry together.
