– National Prayer Programme – PFN Denies Links To Enoch Adeboye

The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) has dismissed claims linking its recent nationwide prayer programme to the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Enoch Adeboye.

In a statement issued by the fellowship’s National Secretary, David Bakare, the PFN described such claims as false and misleading, insisting that the programme was solely conceived, approved, coordinated and executed by the fellowship.

According to the PFN, the decision to organise the national prayer and fasting programme was reached after its National Executive Council met to discuss the country’s worsening economic and security challenges.

The fellowship subsequently directed Pentecostal Christians across the country to participate in a three-day fasting and prayer exercise, which ended with gatherings in various states.

Bakare stressed that neither Pastor Adeboye nor the RCCG initiated or controlled the programme, noting that the church only participated as a member of the fellowship, just like other Pentecostal denominations.

The PFN also clarified that the final day of the exercise coincided with Pentecost Sunday, a global Christian observance celebrated by churches around the world, and was not unique to the RCCG.

The fellowship further revealed that an earlier plan to include public processions was suspended due to security concerns, saying the move was necessary to prevent the programme from being infiltrated by criminal elements.

While expressing satisfaction with the outcome of the prayer programme, the PFN urged members of the public to avoid spreading misinformation and called for greater respect in public discussions involving religious leaders.
