– Church Leaders Are Politically Ignorant – Pastor Femi Emmanuel
The Presiding Pastor of Livingspring Chapel International, Pastor Femi Emmanuel, has said that many church leaders are politically ignorant despite their passion for Nigeria, urging pastors to become more actively involved in governance rather than merely commenting from the sidelines.
“My fellow pastors and general overseers are passionate about this country. They work hard, they believe in Nigeria and they love this country. But when it comes to politics, they are completely ignorant,” he said.
According to the cleric, many church leaders criticize government policies without participating in the institutions where laws are made and public policies are formulated.

“You are not where laws are made, you are not where policies are implemented, but you are shouting from the pulpit. That is like shouting from behind the fence,” he said, stressing that meaningful national transformation requires direct participation in the political process.
Emmanuel also weighed in on the debate over the religious identity of political office holders, arguing that competence and effective governance should take precedence over whether candidates are Christians or Muslims.
Drawing from his experience as a former Deputy Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Emmanuel encouraged Christians, professionals and young people to pursue political leadership, insisting that lasting change can only come by participating in the decision-making process.
