– Anti-Bus Evangelism Bill – Bishop Wale Oke Blasts Law

President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Bishop Wale Oke, has strongly criticized a proposed bill seeking to prohibit evangelism in commercial buses, declaring that Christians would rather face imprisonment than stop preaching the Gospel.

Speaking in a video, the cleric described the proposed legislation as an attack on the Christian faith and the constitutional right to freedom of worship.

According to Bishop Oke, the preaching of the Gospel is a divine mandate that believers cannot abandon because of government restrictions. He maintained that Christians remain committed to evangelism regardless of the consequences.

“We’re ready for prison,” the bishop said, insisting that no law should prevent believers from sharing their faith in public spaces.

He urged lawmakers to reconsider any legislation that would criminalize peaceful evangelism, arguing that such a move could infringe on the religious freedoms guaranteed to Nigerians under the Constitution.

The comments have sparked reactions online, with many Christians expressing support for the PFN president’s stance, while others have called for a balance between religious freedom and the need to protect commuters from unsolicited disturbances in public transportation.
